Notes

From previous researchers: The family of Jonathan Park is outlined in the Park book which I have tried to prove with other references as stated below. *Jonathan Park was a son of Ebenezer Park as proved by a deed record located in Madison Co., Kentucky Deed Book F page 377 1 April 1807 Ebenezer Parke & Tabitha his wife to Madison Co., Kentucky. for inconsideration of the said Jonathan Parke of said county and state being their son and one of their legal heirs at law" gave mentioned son 100 acres Madison Co., Kentucky land on Station Camp Creek "it being part of an entry granted John Wood of 2000 acres, signed Ebenezer Parke &Tabitha Parke.

  • Jonathan Park grandson of Ebenezer Park and Tabitha Mills recorded the Park family in his diary November 14, 1898. In his diary he stated that Jonathan Park was married to Katharine Turner and had six children but only could recount the names of four-Isaiah Park, Wm Park, Allen Park, and Mary Park who married a man by the name of Winn. Evidently Jonathan Park either lived in that part of Madison Co.,Kentucky that became Estill Co., Kentucky or they moved to that area as they can be found living there in 1810. Jonathan Park, private 18 September 1812, Capt. James White Company of Kentucky Militia - per JoAnn Cox. From this we know that he fought in the War of 1812.
  • In 1814 Jonathan Park died sometime between 11 January when his will was written and July when it was proved in court. *The children of Jonathan Park are further proved by Deed Book F page 518 (no county stated-from files of Jo Ann Cox) This Indenture made and entered into this 15th day of Aprile 1839 between Ebeneezer Park of the___ part and Tobias Reynolds of the other part___ This that the Ebenezer Park is attorney in fact for William Park, Isaac Park-Allin Park, Anna Park, Sally Park and Mary Park Heirs---legal representative of Jonathan Park deceased for and in consideration of the sum of one hundred and eighty dollars to him in hand paid the___to here of is hereby acknowledges hath granted and bargained and sold and these present do grant, bargain and sell unto the said Tobias Reynolds a certain tract or parcel of land situated and lying in the County of Estill on Station Camp Creek it being the ____undivided land of the aforesaid named heirs of the said Jonathan Park in the tract of land wherein the said Reynolds resided which descended to them on the death of the said Jonathan Park to have and to hold this said tract of land with its appurtenances unto the said Tobias Reynolds and his heirs forever and the said Ebeneezer Park as attorney aforesaid doth hereby warrant and will and will forever defend the title to the said land against the claims or claimed of all and every person or persons whatever. Parks-2627 and Parke-1514 appear to represent the same person because: The Parke surname in the 1700s changed to Parks or Park in later generations.
