Daughter of John Parks and wife Jean Alexander both born in Northern Ireland, Ulster Province. Wife of John Gibson. Her son Thomas took his wife and most of his kids and moved from here to Hale Twp, Warren County, ILL near Monmouth where they established another Seceder Presbyterian Church. His daughter Jane married Thomas Smith Allen. He died at 45 years of age and she farmed until her kids became adults. She moved with her son Robert Gibson Allen to Riley/Manhattan, Kansas where she lived with him and his first and second wives. In her 90's they moved to Linn, Oregon where Jane passed away in 1908. Martha's parents were early settlers of Pennsylvania near present day Chambersburg.She was a descendent of the Chambers family. Jean Alexander could ride as well as any man, could trap, hunt and fish and was very self reliant.
