Thomas was a "Schoolmaster" while a resident of Essex County, Va. in 1693, Simon Miller deeded him land: Deed Book 2, page 2 "Simon Miller, planter of Essex County, Parish of St. Mary's to Thomas Park, Schoolmaster of Essex County, Simon Miller gives Thomas Parks a lifetime use of as much land as he can use in Richmond County, Virginia.Simon Miller applied the law of Escheat to this gift, which the land would return to the Miller Estate at Thomas Parks death.
