Hi Ken. Small world. I saw your post in G2G and decided to look to see if we are related. We are 9c2R, through my paternal side, MRCA being Hepsiba (Dibble) Gibbs (1642-1698), whom I didn't even have in my database until today. I was shocked to see that we share DNA, 9.8cM on Ch 18, shown if I prevent hard breaks. That's a sizeable chuck for that far back. I don't share with either of your siblings, BTW. I guess I'd have to assume Hepsiba is the segment donor but I have no other triangulated matches with you so I'm not sure what to make of it. Have a great day cuz.

Hi Connie,

Very interesting!!! I'll have to look and see if there are any other places where we match up. that 9.8cm does seem a bit high for that long ago!

Ken

posted by Ken Parman
Connie,

I have multiple kits and we also match 7.4cm on Ch-13 and 7.4cm on Ch-5, although not with each kit. So that would put us at a total of 24.6cm overall. That would put us closer to the 4th-6th cousin range which is much more likely. This puts things into the late 1700s to the early 1800s. Now we just need to find that common ancestor :-)

You may respond by replying to this comment or sending me a private message. Thank you for being a member of WikiTree and the Mayflower Project.

Ken, I could use your help on my family tree and just how we connect to the Connecticut and New York settlers. Email me if you're interested. Your cousin, Julie
Hi Ken,

Just wanted to be sure you understand what Anne and I are saying - Plymouth Colony in place fields should NOT be changed on any existing profile that you do not personally manage where the event happened between 1620 and 1691.

Cheers,

Understood... looks like we have a bigger problem anyway. I just tried "Wampanoag Tribal Lands" and it took me to my house!

Does the left side panel say "Google Maps can't find wampanoag tribal lands"? If so, it is defaulting to your own location.
posted by Bobbie (Madison) Hall
Yes, it says "Google Maps can't find Wampanoag Tribal Lands". I can almost understand this problem. But the Plymouth Colony issue still doesn't make sense as it works from the edit page, but not on the main profile. Wampanoag Tribal Lands does not exist on the edit page drop down, only the Wampanoag Royal Cemetery does.

Thank you, Ken for that fix-it job on Hannah Gibbs! I got into quite a tangle. I'm still skeptical of that Find a Grave information. Who did Samuel belong to, anyway? I'm still inclined to think the wrong grave has been attached to Hannah Gibbs. I wonder how often that happens?

Ken, could you please detach Samuel Griswold from Hannah Gibbs Griswold (Gibbs-903). I'm not sure how to do it. I've found a list of her other children on a genealogical record (The Griswold Family, England-America (1935), vol. 2, page 224,) but he isn't listed. I suspect he belongs to Hannah Adkin Griswold. Thank you, Devon
