Rev John Booker, the Rector of Prestwich, published an account of the local families in 1852.[1]
Fox of Rhodes [near Pilkington] – “The Rhodes estate….the residence and doubtless the property of a family of that name……passed in marriage with an heiress into the family of Parr, from whom it was conveyed by two sisters and coheiresses – one portion to William, son of William Holland of Clifton, in the right of his wife Jane Parr, and the remainder to ----Foxe of Latham, who had espoused the other sister.” [unsourced by Booker]. Later documents would indicate that John Foxe had married Jane Parr and the wife of William Holland has been lost.
