Biography

Samuel Parris was born May 16, 1696 in Pembroke, Plymouth, Massachusetts Bay to Thomas and Abigail (Rogers) Parris. He married Ruth Bonney on January 20, 1725 in Pembroke, Plymouth, Massachusetts. He passed away before Ruth married her second husband, Andrew Lindsey in 1736.[1]

Research Notes

Samuel has been confused with another Samuel Parris who lived in Virginia. There is a Find-a-Grave profile which erroneously conflates the two men. The death date is over two decades after Samuel's widow Ruth's marriage to Andrew Lindsey in Massachusetts and reflects the probate date for the Samuel Parris who lived in Virginia.[2][3] Unfortunately, the manager refuses to correct the error.[4]

Is there a reliable source that shows the Samuel Parris born and married in Massachusetts is the same Samuel Parris that died in Louisa County, Virginia?

Why does his wife's profile say:

"Ruth married first, Samuel Parrish. [2] After his death, on September 30, 1736, in Pembroke, Plymouth, Massachusetts, Ruth married Andrew Linsey, (aka Lindsey) son of Thomas Linsey. "

Parris-930 and Parris-46 appear to represent the same person because: Same name, same wife, similar dates

Parris-930 and Parris-46 do not represent the same person because: They are 2 different people. Please read notes and comments. I have also provided proof.
The children born in Louisa Co. listed in Parris-46 (Samuel, James, David, John, Rachel) match the children in the 1759 will of Samuel Parris described in the bio of Parris-930. Shouldn't they be removed from Parris-46 and added to Parris-930? Is there any evidence that the Ruth in the 1759 will was Ruth Bonney?

Is there any evidence that would preclude the adjustments that I mentioned a couple of days ago? I am assuming that the Samuel Parris of Massachusetts remained in Mass. and died there. Is that so?

Parris-1391 and Parris-46 appear to represent the same person because: Name, All dates, locations and family are identical on these two profiles. These two are duplicates and need to be merged. Please approve and merge.

Parris-1391 and Parris-46 do not represent the same person because: Samuel Parris of Louisa Co. VA dies in 1759....Rev. Samuel Parris of Massachusetts died in 1720... They ARE NOT the same person!
Parris-824 and Parris-46 appear to represent the same person because: identical information dates are off by exactly one year due to calendar
