J. 0. PARTRIDGE PASSES ON AT AGE OF 98 Northport's Grand Old Man, James O. Partridge, father of former Assistant District Attorney Charles B. Partridge was buried from the St. Paul's Methodist Episcopal Church, Northport, Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock, the Rev. William Christy Craig, pastor, officiating. Mr. Partridge, who recently celebrated his ninety-eighth birthday, was trustee of that church for many years. He was a native of Washington County, N.Y., having been born at Hudson July 27, 1834, and was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Moores [Moors] Partridge. He attended the Washington Academy at Salem, N. Y., and after graduating took up the paper manufacturing, business with a Plant at Shushan. N. Y. He operated this several years until his buildings were totally destroyed by fire shortly after the Civil War, the loss running into several hundred thousand dollars. This loss discouraged him and he took up the teaching profession, and from 1877 to 1891 he was principal of the Northport Schools. However, he gave up teaching in 1891 owing to the low wages paid at the time. The manufacturing business was still strong within him and formed a partnership with Cyril Stossel. They manufactured mallets, for _____ there was a great demand. He retired from business early aJu»rtM of a century ago and later spent much of his time in a chickfri and fruit business. He is survived by three sons, Frank V Partridge of Shushan, N.Y. and Charles B. and Clarence O. of Northport, and one daughter. Mrs. Nettie Walsh, of Llbertyville, _____. There are also 14 grandchildren, _____ great grandchildren and _____ great-great-grandchild.
