Corporal Jesse Partridge served with 18th Massachusetts Bay Provincial Regiment (1775), Continental Army during the American Revolution.

Jesse Partridge was born on February 28, 1747 in Walpole, Norfolk, Massachusetts. His parents were Zachariah Partridge and Esther Turner. [1]

Jesse Partridge, of Medfield, married Keziah Clapp in Walpole. [1]

They resided in Walpole for a few years after their marriage but removed about 1775 to Holden where they thereafter resided.

He was a minuteman in the Holden company of Capt. James Davis, Col. Ephraim Doolittle's regiment, responding to the alarm of April 19, 1775. He was also a Corporal in Capt. Benjamin Richardson's co., Col Dike's regt. through late 1776. [2] [3] [4] [5] [6]

Jesse and Keziah had these children, the first one born in Medfield or Lowell (?),[7] the second one born in Walpole,[1] and the rest in Holden, [8] and grandchildren:

    1. E. Arville Smith (Brigham) d. of a Fit 25 December, 1872 age 46 -Holden - Widowed - Pauper She had an illegitimate child with Sylvanus Brigham and later seemed to have married him. Her name seems to have been Ellen, because Ellen married Sylanus Brigham but on the 1855 census, there is an Ellen listed as well as Arville.

He died on March 29, 1838 in Holden. [8] [9]

Jesse had a grandson Edward Partridge who had his name changed to Edward Merrick, and was living in 1904.

His will was proved June 20 1839. In it he mentions his children Nancy Hubbard, Lucy Warner, Lewis, Ellis Jesse and Seth Partridge and five children of his deceased daughter Charlotte wife of Asa Smith [10]
