Biography

Jane Partridge was most likely born in Olney, Buckinghamshire, since her father John Partridge died there in 1647. He made a nuncupative will leaving his estate first to his wife Frances, presumed mother of his children, and then to the children of his son William and daughter Jane Gaines who had left England for Massachusetts.[1]

On 17 May 1634 in Olney, Buckinghamshire, Jane married Henry Gaines (Geines).[2]

Jane and her husband settled in Lynn, Massachusetts. Both were dead by 1645 leaving their two children orphans.[3][4]

Hello Wikitree community: I am interested in Jane, but not for her DNA. I found in her probate record that she had "bonelass & thread & a pinn coshen". This may mean she is a crucial link in a topic I'm interested in: early lacemaking in New England. If anyone knows more about this, or about other possible lacemakers in the Puritan migration, please let me know. I'm working on a project with the New England Lace Group.

While there are not many listed here, and none appear to be in New England, this may be an interesting category: https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Category:Lacemakers. If she is a lacemaker, we should add the same category to her profile as well.

Updated: I've added the category to her profile

Removed Jasper Blake and Frances Flowerdew as parents. No evidence.

Rich, would you be okay with disconnecting Jane from Jasper Blake as her father? Given that her mother's married name was Partridge, and Jane's last name was Partridge, I think Jasper is a red herring.

Thanks, Carole
