Biography

Alfred Partridge was born on 29 Aug 1860^[1] in Gloucestershire, and was baptised on 21 October 1860 in Newnham, Gloucestershire, England. It appears that his birth was not registered until later in the year.^[2]

Alfred married Elizabeth Hardwick in Q3 1885, and the marriage was registered in Westbury-on-Severn, Gloucestershire.^[3]

In 1911 the couple lived in Lower Ruspidge with 9 children. The couple had been married 25 years and had 11 children but 2 had died. Their house had 4 rooms for the 11 occupants. Alfred was a collier, as were his two eldest sons^[4].

After the death of his wife Elizabeth, it seems that Alfred went to live with his son Arthur and family^[5].

In summer 1945, Alfred died aged 84, most likely in or near the Forest of Dean, since the death was registered there.^[6]
