Curtis Elmo Pass was born in April 1895 in Mississippi. According to the 1900 US Census, he was 5 years old, living with his parents: Matthew J. Pass and "Mattie" E. (Unknown) Pass, both 38 years old, with 2 brothers (Herschel: 14 & DeWitt: 3 yrs.) and 2 sisters (Lola: 12 yrs. & Jena: 9 yrs.), in the town of Paris, Lafayette County, Mississippi, USA. [1]
Ten years later, the April 1910 US Census reported Matthew J. Pass and his family, including 15-year-old son, Curtis E. Pass, living in Water Valley, Yalobusha, Mississippi, United States. Curtis' mother's proper first name was "Martha". Two younger sisters had been added to Curtis' family: "Overtericia:" 9 yrs. & "Jeror:" 6 yrs. old). They lived on their family farm in Water Valley. Curtis and his brothers were called "farm laborers". [2]
As a young man, Curtis met a woman named Virginia Edith Wilson and the two of them fell in love. They had promised each other to wait til after the war was over. He went away to France in WW1 and died there. Virginia Edith Wilson never married.
