Rites held for William Patch, 85 William McKinley Patch, 85, of S. Seeger Street, Cass City, died Saturday at Hills and Dales General Hospital after a long illness. He was born July 1, 1896, in Novesta Township, the son of William and Emma (Moshier) Patch. Patch married Lena B. Wentwurth Dec. 31, 1919, in Caro. Following their marriage, they made their home in Detroit. They later moved to a farm in Evergreen Township and then to Oscoda before moving to Cass City in 1948. Patch was a member of the Novesta Baptist Church, serving as a deacon and trustee and Sunday school teacher for many years. He was a custodian and bus driver for the Cass City schools for 13 years. He is survived by his wife; two sons, Bruce Wentworth of Decker and William Patch Jr. of Harrison; one daughter, Mrs. Daniel (Stella) Hennessey of Cass City; one sister, Mrs. Anna Taylor of Madison Heights; 15 grandchildren, and 21 great-grandchildren. Two sisters, one half-sister and two half-brothers preceded him in death. Patch was taken from Little's Funeral Home at 9 a.m, Tuesday to the Novesta Baptist Church to lie in state until the 11 a.m. funeral service. Rev. Jason P. Hollopeter of the Bipus United Methodist Church of Bipus, Ind., and Rev. John Lang of the Novesta Baptist Church officiated. Burial was in Novesta Cemetery.
