William Paterson was born around 1685 and was christened on 3 November 1685 in Airth, Stirlingshire. His parents are William Paterson and Jannet Garner.[1]
William married Agnes Bane on 22 September 1713 in Dunipace, Stirlingshire.[2]
The couple went on to have 7 children together:
The family were certainly still in Dunipace in 1735 at the birth of their child Isobell. When this profile was first uploaded a death year of 1797 was added along with a place of death of Melrose in Roxburghshire. I would consider it to be unlikely given the time period for William to have lived until he was 112 years old, also Melrose is a considerable distance from Dunipace where he certainly spent the first 50 years of his life.
There is a William Paterson who died in Melrose in 1797 however Paterson is a common name and it is more likely this is a different William. Given thus far there is no documentary evidence to support William dying in 1797 in Melrose these details have been removed from the profile.
