Biography

James Elliott Paterson is born on December 13, 1915, in Scarborough Township, Ontario, the son of James George Paterson and Laura Mabel Elliott [1][2].

In the 1921 census records, James is five years old, living with his family in Scarborough [3].

James marries Clare Bendikte Read in 1942 in Calgary [4]. They have three children:

• Linda Paterson + (1967) Alexander Blair Dunbar

• Susan Paterson

• Randolph James (“Randy”) Paterson

At the end of World War II, James and Clare move to Vancouver where they raise their family. (Although we do not have birth dates, we think all three children were born in Vancouver.) James dies in Vancouver on June 26, 1981 [5]. He is buried in the Queen's Park Cemetery and Mausoleum in Calgary. Clare dies in 2009 and is buried with him. They are buried in the same plot as Clare’s parents.
