Hi Dave,

Charlie Kelly from Ayrshire here. I have been updating the biography of Patrick McIlvaine of Grimmet who I am descended from through his daughter, Agnes. I have done my best to inlude sources but they are thin on the ground. I would reckon many of the original sources are in the holdings of the National Records of Scotland in Edinburgh. What I am wondering is what was the Photo and Objects, which were previously attached to Patrick McIlvaines profile? I deleted them as I was unable to open them. I hope I have not deleted important information and would appreciate if you could explain the content and relevance of the Photo and Objects? Best wishes, Charlie.

Hi Dave! I haven't heard back from you regarding the annual Scotland Project check-in. I hope you are well and look forward to hearing from you.

Amy - Go ahead and take me off the Scotland Project. Unfortunately, I haven't had very much time to do any Wikitree work for awhile. Changes to work and family situations have just kept me too busy I'm afraid, and I've had to take some time off.

Sorry to hear that, Dave. When you have time to return to WikiTree, we'll look forward to seeing you back in the Project!

You have several 931 Suggestions for Scottish Clans. Please add me to Trusted List or Cunningham-3424 and Patrick-1582 so I can fix them or follow the information on the comments on each profile.

Thank you.

I tried making the change you posted, but it just doesn't seem to do anything. I need your email address to add you to the trusted list. There doesn't seem to be an easy way to add Wikitree genealogists or project leaders without that.

Hello

It’s time for a Project check-in!

Scotland Project Leaders check in with you at least once a year to see how you are doing. With the changes happening around the world, we understand that life is hectic right now.

What are you planning to work on for the Scotland Project this year? Are you happy with the team(s) you part of, or would you like to make some changes?

This time round, we’re also looking for feedback on the use of Google Group and Discord. Do you use one or both of these? If you don’t use either of them, what is the best way to ensure you receive Project communications? If you would like to join us on Google Group or Discord, let us know in your response.

David, John Calvin Noe is my 5th great-grandfather and I am reasonably certain he was not born in Europe (as posted on WikiTree). My research indicates that he was born between 1732 and 1740 in either Edgecombe Co, NC, or in Orange Co, VA. He was married in 1782 in Lee Co, VA, to Elizabeth Patrick (b.1760; d. after 4 Oct 1817). The fact that he was not born in Europe is verified by the fact that his own father, Peter Noe, was born in Charles Co, MD.

Michael,

You are most likely correct. It looks like the European birth comes from the DAR record for John Calvin Noe. Your dates don't match any of the other records I've found though. The most correct Elizabeth Patrick seems to be Elizabeth Patrick born in 1740 to Hugh Patrick and Susannah Harris. They married around 1760, and had their first kid in 1761 (Samuel Noe, a son named Aguilla in 1762, John Noe Calvin II born in 1765.) There were a bunch of other kids, but that seems like the best info I have found. That was on Ancestry. Unfortunately, I actually have John Calvin Noe married to the wrong Elizabeth Patrick in my tree, and I will have to unravel that info there and attach him to the correct Elizabeth. They aren't part of my direct line though. The correct Elizabeth is the niece of my 6th Great Grandfather.

Hello Dave,

My name is Sarah and I’m the Project Coordinator for the Scotland Project. As you may have heard, we have merged the Scottish Clans project into the Scotland Project. I am contacting you today to find out if you are interested in continuing with us under this new format. If you would like to go forward on the Scottish Clans Team, please reply and let me know which clans you have been working on or would like to work on. I look forward to hearing from you.

Best Regards,

Hi David,

We realise the time has come to dissolve the UK Project in favour of the individual country projects of England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland.

We are checking in with all UK badge holders to find out which country project(s) you would like to be in so you can collaborate with other members, have the opportunity to select which team(s) you would like to join, and so we can ensure you have all the correct badges.

Please respond by PM to let us know which country project(s) you would like to be in. Please don’t assume we know. We are effectively starting from scratch to make sure no one falls through the cracks.

Once you have done this, the Coordinator for Membership in the relevant country project(s) will be in touch to help get you situated.

Many thanks,

Susie

Hi Dave

I’m the new Project Coordinator for the England Project. I am contacting you, as there have been some recent changes to the project which we are keen to bring to your attention. Please look at the England Project page for more information on the changes and the ways members are able to actively contribute moving forward. Once you have considered how you would like to participate, please contact either myself or Susie to let us know. We can then list your involvement, help you join the Google group forum for England, and give you any other help you may need to get going. If we don’t hear back from you we’ll assume you do not wish to be a part of the England Project for the time being. We really hope you will join the team! Gillian

Hi Dave and thanks for your post on G2G.

I've added the United Kingdom Project badge to your profile. If you click on the badge it will take you to the full list of our wonderful members. Click on United Kingdom Project will take you the first page of the project. Scroll down to Member Interests. I've added your good self. Same with the England Project and Scotland Project.

Thanks again for joining, enjoy and good luck with your research.

Hi Dave,

I see we have some of the same Ancestors in the Gray line. I just merged some of your line into mine. I have more info on the Gray family going back many more generations. just wondering if you have the same information or if you wish to work together with this. Linda

Hi Dave,

I see you are working on merges, you may want to review Matching and Merging FAQ to understand the directions of merges.

Also, please remember, always merge from the highest profile number into the lowest profile number for correct last name at birth. If you have more then two profiles to merge into one, please merge the highest to the lowest. For example, if you have xxx-300, xxx-200 and xxx-100 to merge together, please merge xxx-300 to xxx-100, and xxx-200 to xxx-100. If you have any questions, feel free to contact your mentor, or leave me a message on my profile.

Thank you,

Sharon - WikiTree Ranger

Welcome to the New Netherland Settlers Project-we're happy to have you. I have awarded you the badge, and added you as a manager to the Criteria and Site Map pages, which we use to communicate with each other on the bulletin boards, as this group does not use an email list or Google+ group. Be sure to check out the project page and the category page for more information on determining the final WikiTree ID for a person, since many times our ancestors did not have a surname until arriving in the country. We have a special system for these as well as the merges that go with them, so please read up on it, as well. You should also add new_netherland to your G2G feed so you can keep up on the conversations there. Thanks for joining us!

Thank you for your recent merges.

Here's a link to merging help in case you can't find it. http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Merging

Hey Dave,

Now that you have had a little time to try WikiTree, there are a few more features you may find useful.

Ideas on what to include in a profile can be found in Styles and Standards, including some tips on writing biographies.

If you need to describe an event, an heirloom or a location relevant to your research, you may like to learn about Free Space Profiles.

Lastly, sometimes you'll run into unresponsive profile managers. We have a process for resolving those unfortunate situations.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask via my profile page. Mags, WikiTree Mentor

P.P.S. We also have a great blog and we've very active on social media if you want to join in the fun! :)

Welcome David,

You are now a member of the WikiTree Community. Please note we are trying to build one Collaborative Tree which means one profile per person. It is important to ensure no duplicates are entered as you add any Profiles to WikiTree.

If you need any help getting started check out the help section from the menu, top left, or head over to the G2G forum, you might want to check out the introductory WikiTree video that a member created.

Our Mentor Team are a friendly bunch of volunteers who will be glad to help you with specific problems if you have any.

Good luck growing your branches, and thanks for offering to help with our shared tree :)
