Nathaniel (Nathan) Patterson, son of William and Janet (Irwin), was born about 1704 in Ireland. Nathaniel's father was John William Patterson and his mother was Janet (Irvine), Patterson. He had 6 siblings. He married Isabella (Irwin), Patterson and she was born on 1684 in Ayrshire, Scotland. They had 2 children together. They both traveled from their birth land and lived in the United States. Nathaniel died on 9 Apr 1752 in Augusta County, Virginia[1]

Nathaniel's will was filed in Augusta County, Virginia and mentions his wife, Isabell; sons, John, Mathew, Robert (John is oldest), Mathew 2d; daughter, Isabell; daughter, Sarah; daughter, Martha. Executors, wife, John Wilson, Robert Campbell. It was proved on 21 May 1752. [2]

1. NATHANIEL PATTERSON, b. ca 1705, d. 1752, Augusta Co., VA; left will; MD. ISABELLA ERWIN. He was a vestryman when the churchwardens and vestrymen have deeded the church glebe of 200 acres in Beverly Manor in 1749. NATHANIEL and ISABELLA had children ROBERT, JOHN, MATHEW, MARY, MARTHA, SARAH, ISABELLA, JAMES. One of ROBERT's sons was a Patriot in the Revolutionary War, William Patterson, b. 1753 in Augusta Co., served while living in the part of North Carolina which became Tennessee, drew a Revolutionary pension, and d. 1841 in Anderson Co., TN.
