Biography

Alex was born in Scotland in 1834. He passed away in 1893.^[1]

In 1870, he lived in Malta, Illinois with his wife Jane and children Isabella, Anderana, and Frank.^[2] In 1880, he lived in Flagg Township with his family.^[3]

Rochelle; born May 27, 1834, in Forfarshire, Scotland; remained there farming until 1864, when he came to Chicago, and in 1865 removed to DeKalb Co., and in 1868 came to his present farm; he owns 130 acres, valued at $55 per acre; when in Scotland was a member of the Established Church; Mrs. P. is a member of the Episcopal Church; married Jane Baird April 17, 1867; she was born July 4, 1844; in Ireland; have five children: Isabella, born Sept. 17, 1868, Anderana, May 1, 1870, Alex, April 29, 1872, Cordelia E., Oct. 7, 1874, and George, June 4, 1875.

According to the 1880 US Census for Flagg, Ogle, Illinois, forty-seven-year-old Alexander Patterson, was a married white male farmer of the Flagg area. Alexander was born in Scotland about 1833. His wife was the Irish born Jane (Unknown) Patterson, who was born in Ireland about 1845. They must have been married before 1869, as their eldest daughter was born in that year. Alexander passed away after 1880.
