Biography

The 1880 U.S. Census recorded James Patterson in the Seventh Civil District of Meigs County, Tennessee, He was 77 years old, born in Tennessee to parents born in North Carolina. His occupation was "doing chores." He and Mary Patterson, 75 years old, were identified as father-in-law and mother-in-law, respectively,in the household headed by John H. Hardin, age 49 and a farmer. Others in the household were Susan E. Hardin (their daughter), age 43; and children Martin L. Hardin, 19; Thomas H. Hardin, 16; Joseph A. Hardin, 13; and John L. Hardin, 7.^[1]
