Bartold Alfred Paulsen was born in Christiania, Norway (now Oslo) on 09 Nov 1849 and he was baptized at 21 Apr 1850 at Vår Frelsers menighet.[1] He grew up in Oslo, where his father ran a coffee shop.[2] He was a student of Edvard Grieg and studied for a time in Leipzig, Germany. He was an organist at Jacob church in Oslo, a composer and a music teacher.[3]
Bartold Alfred married Antonie Henriette Jülich, who was born in Leipzig, on 23 Oct 1877.[4] They had at least one daughter together.[5]
Bartold Alfred married Anna Marie Riiser on 07 Jul 1886.[6] They emigrated to the United States, settling in Chicago where he was an organist and choir director.[7][8]
Alfred died in Chicago on 08 Apr 1936 and he was buried in Mount Olive Cemetery.[9]
