Luciano Pavarotti was born in 1935[1] on the outskirts of Modena in Northern Italy, the son of Fernando Pavarotti, a baker and amateur tenor, and Adele Venturi, a cigar factory worker. Luciano first studied at "Scuola delle Magistrale" and was teaching for two years before he decided to become an opera singer. He studied classic singing for six years, first in Modena and later in Mantua. His first role was Rodolfo in Puccinis "La Bohème" at the opera house of Reggio nell’Emilia in 1961. He won a singing contest and soon became famous. He was singing in many places such as Amsterdam, London, Vienna, Zurich and Glyndebourne. In 1965 he was on tour in the US and Australia. He got most famous for beeing one of the three tenors, singing at the soccer world championship in 1990.
On 12 Oct 1960, Luciano married Adua Veroni, they had three daughters Lorenza, Cristina and Giuliana[2]. Luciano and Adua were divorced in 2000, after his affair with Nicoletta Mantovani got public in 1993. Nicoletta gave birth to twins in January 2003, but the baby boy died of birth complications. After a long divorce trial, Luciano and Nicoletta married on 13 Dec 2003[3].
Luciano was diagnosed with Pancreatic cancer in 2006 and died in 2007 of kidney failure[4]. He was buried in the family mausoleum at the cemetery of the town Castelnuovo Rangone, Province of Modena[5].
