Biography

There is one book that contain information about this family.

It was written by a lawyer who lived in Marion County, SC in 1902. The essential portion is excerpted here but copied from the noted website.[1]

FLOWERS--This family sprang from Henry Flowers, who came from England, about the middle of the eighteenth century. He married Patsy Savage, and settled and lived where ex-Sheriff W. T. Evans now lives; he took up and owned large bodies of land around him, many thousands of acres; he had and raised a large family; the sons were Archie, John, Henry, William, James, Jacob and Bennett; the daughters wee Mollie, Betsy, Nancy, Sallie and Olive or Olivia.

Of the sons, the writer can get no definite information, except as to Bennett, the youngest son of old Henry, who married Miss Annie Payne, and had and raised two sons, Ervin Huger and John J., and three daughters, Annis, Olivia and Annie.

The book names the children and their spouses:

Annie Payne was the wife of Bennett Payne. They lived in Marion Co, South Carolina. They raised at least five children:

  • Ervin Hunger Flowers m. Elizabeth Keefe
    • Daugther: Tabitha Flowers
  • John J Flowers m. Anne Flowers (his first cousin)
  • Annis Flowers m. Solomon Owens
  • Olivia Flowers m. Gen Elly Godbold
  • Annie Flowers Died single

Research Notes

Many of the Flowers family are buried in Marion Co., SC. I couldn't find a record for this couple.

All of the dates are unconfirmed and without sources. We know from the 1800 Census there was an adult female 26-44 years old and an adult male 26-44.

Bennett appears in the 1810, 1820, and 1800 US Censuses for Marion County.
