According to the memoirs of Eli's son-in-law, John Mason Peck, Eli resided in Greene County, New York as his daughter Sally (Sarah) Paine was born in 1789. Her mother, Sarah Webster, died shortly thereafter. Eli married again during Sally's childhood or teen years.
