Biography
Charles James Payne was born in about 1907 at Bristol. He was the son of Charles Payne and his wife Mary, born Mary Hepden. [1] [2]
In 1911 James Payne was living at 27 Heber Street in Redfield in Bristol with his parents Charles and Mary, their other children, and his mother's unmarried sister Emily Hepden. His age was given as 4, implying a birth date in 1906 or 1907. No birthplace was given. [2]
