When Cansada was about 18, she married Athel Phillips on 27 July 1854 in Pontotoc County, MS.[2][3]
Her husband enlisted with the 3rd Cavalry from Arkansas on the Union side of the Civil War.[4] He would die in 1891.
At some point, she started going by Mary instead of Cansada. In 1920, she lives with her widowed daughter, Jane Miller in Fayette Co, Illinois.[5]
She died after 1920.
