Biography
Frederick L. "Fritz" Payne, 81, of Berryville, Arkansas, formerly of Bushnell, died at 1:30 p.m. Monday, January 25, 1999, at Berryville Health Care Center.
Born March 30, 1917, in Good Hope to Leroy Lloyd and Bessie Stump Payne, he married Erna Walton on July 17, 1945, in Orion. She survives.
Also surviving are one son, Frederick of Berryville; one stepson, Larry Hopper of Inverness, Florida,; two stepdaughters, Dolores Morey of Null, Georgia., and Janice Fields of Glen Ellyn; two sisters, Mary Payne of Good Hope and Dora Hassler of Orion; four grandchildren; 10 stepgrandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and 15 stepgreat-grandchildren.
Three brothers and two sisters preceded him in death.
He was a World War II Army veteran. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans and the American Legion, where he was post commander. He operated a machine shop for 22 years.
