Biography
Bettie Alice Payne was born on March 12, 1849, in Cherokee, Georgia to Oliver Payne & Martha Johns. She married James Madison Harris on December 25, 1870. They had five children in 13 years. She died on February 1, 1888, at the age of 38, and was buried in Madison, Tennessee.
