Biography

King was Seminole.

King Payne

Please note that "King Payne" before he became "King" or Chief of the Alachua Okone Seminoles was known as "Payne".

King Payne was a leader of the Alachua Okone Seminole Tribe of Florida (between 1775-1785 with the death of Cowkeeper). Payne replaced Cowkeeper as Chief of Alachua. After Payne's death in 1812, his brother Hotti Hopoya (Bowlegs) succeeded him as Paramount Chief of the Alachuas.
