Alease Payne Marrs, 66 of Spotsylvania County quietly passed away after a long battle with alzheimers on August 14, 2003.
She was retired from the Spotsylvania Treasurer's office. Besides her love for gardening, she was an accomplished singer. She sang numerous solos at gatherings at Salem Baptist Church where she was a member and had sang in the choir for more than four decades.
She is survived by her loving husband of fifty years, William Billy Marrs; a son, William Bill Marrs and his wife, Mary M. Marrs; a daughter, Deborah M. Collins; a granddaughter, Shannan Alysse Marrs and a grandson, Chastain Collins; her mother, Myrtle Belle Payne; a brother, Ray Payne and his wife, Linda Payne.
She is predeceased in death by her beloved father, Raymond Tiny Payne.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 18, at Salem Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Laurel Hill Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 7-8:30 p.m. Sunday evening at Covenant Funeral Service, Fredericksburg.
Pallbearers will be Chas Collins, grandson, and her cousins, Billy Satterwhite, Michael Satterwhite, Stuart Satterwhite, Billy Payne and Frankie Payne.
