Biography

Mary was born in 1854, the daughter of George Payne (1824-1891) and Zillah Aldous (1837-1914). [1]

In 1872, Mary Jane Payne married George Payne. [2]

They appear to have had 19 children[?!].

She passed away in 1932, aged78. [3]

PAYNE. — On the 25th June, at Summerview, Alexandra, Mary Jane, dearly beloved wife of the late Geo. Payne, sen., and beloved mother of George (deceased), Charl, Lizzie (Mrs. Cooper, deceased), Jack, Ernest, Reuben, Maud (Mrs. G. T. Hall, Cæsar (deceased), Gordon, May (Mrs. M. M. Hall), Lily (Mrs. T. R. Smith), Claude (deceased), Noel, and Wilfred, also five infant children, in her 80th year. —Wonderful mother at rest.
