DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Catherine by comparing test results with other carriers of her ancestors' mitochondrial DNA.
However, there are no known mtDNA test-takers in her direct maternal line.
It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Catherine:
Isaac Payn and Mary Polly Berry are not her parents. Mary Polly Berry did not marry Isaac as his second wife until 1792 and was born in 1773 according to her tombstone. She died in 1817 age 43 and is listed as the eldest daughter of Col Sidney Berry there. They did have a daughter named Catherine Joanna, but she was born in 1794. She married George Quackenbos of New York City and had a son, George Payn Quackenbos as found in Reformed Dutch Church Records and DAR Lineages. It is unlikely that he would have named two daughters Catherine that would be so close in age so it is not likely she was born to his first wife Mary (unknown) who died in childbirth in 1789. In addition, there is no evidence to support the existence of a person with this name and vital statistics.
Based on the 18 Aug 1786 birthdate, this would make her Catherine Keator, daughter of Peter Keator and Gertrude Roosa as found in Keator, Alfred Decker, Litt. D. "Three Centuries of the Keator Family in America" The American Historical Company, Inc. New York, 1955 available on Internet Archives [Catherine Keator]. She was his second wife and second cousin 1x removed.
