Source: #S226 Page: Pages 276-277, Volume III Data: Text: EUGENE CURTIS PEARCE, who for ten years has been principal of the Ciloper high school, which is located six miles from Nashville, was born in Franklin County, North Carolina, near Cast.alia, August 19, 1904, his parents being D. Ennis and Hattie (Burnette) Pearce. The father, who was a rural free delivery mail carrier for a number of years, is now living in Rocky l\fount. The mother was born in Franklin County, this state. Eugene C. Pearce pursued his high school studies in Castalia, North Carolina, and then entered Wake Forest College, where he was graduated with the class of 1928, winning the degree of Bachelor of Arts. For a year thereafter he was principal of the schools of Vanceboro, this state, and in 1929 he came to Nashville to assume the duties of principal of the Cooper high school near the city. For ten years he has continued here, doing excellent work as an educator, and he has membership with the Teachers Association of North Carolina. On the 24th of May, 1934, Mr. Pearce was married to Miss Ella Mitchiner, a daughter of W. F. and Nancy (Mitchiner) Mitchiner, of Franklinton, North Carolina. She was born in Franklinton, May 30, 1907, and after attending high school there continued her education in the Western Carolina Teachers College at Cullowhee, after which she engaged in teaching for a time. She belongs to the Home Demonstration Club aud to the North Carolina Teachers Association and, like her husband, has membership in the Baptist church. Politically Mr. Pearce gives his support to the Democratic party.
