Biography

European Aristocracy
Weetman Pearson was a member of the aristocracy in England.

Weetman Dickinson Pearson, 1st Viscount Cowdray GCVO PC (15 July 1856 – 1 May 1927), known as Sir Weetman Pearson, Bt, between 1894 and 1910 and as The Baron Cowdray between 1910 and 1917, was a British engineer, oil industrialist, benefactor and Liberal politician.[1]

Weetman was born in 1856.[2]

Weetman Pearson married Annie Cass.[3]

Weetman and Annie purchased Dunnottar Castle about 1919 and begin an extensive programme of conservation and restoration works, protecting it from further damage and deterioration. The castle is re-opened to the public following these works.

The Hon. Charles Anthony Pearson, the younger son of the 3rd Viscount Cowdray, currently owns and runs Dunnottar Castle which is part of the 210-square-kilometre (81 sq mi) Dunecht Estates.

Weetman passed away in 1927.[4]
