Joshua Peavy received his formal education at Normal College, Natchitoches, LA, and taught school for many years in Vernon Parish. He worked tirelessly in the education field, and because of his dedicated interest and perseverance, the first consolidated school house was built in Simpson. Joshua also served as the first principal of that school. He was an early convert to the Church of God doctrine, and spent many hours discussing church beliefs with his good friend Willie Jackson [1]. He actively participated in all church activities, and was a faithful member until his death. Joshua Peavy authored two books on the history of the Simpson School and the Simpson Church of God.
