Ira Ballou Peck's Genealogical History of the Descendants of Joseph Peck shows Joseph Peck with only one son named Samuel, baptized 3 February 1638/9 in Hingham, Massachusetts. (See Peck-113.) However, Lincoln's History of the town of Hingham, Massachusetts shows the births of two sons named Samuel, with the second son who was baptized in 1646 being the one who survived.[1]
Biography
Samuel Peck was baptized 19 July 1646 in Hingham, Massachusetts, a son of Joseph Peck and his second wife. Two other children of the family were baptized that same day. Another son named Samuel had been baptized several years earlier, and is assumed to have died young.[1][2]
In about 1645 his family removed from Hingham to Rehoboth (Seekonk) , where Samuel lived for the rest of his life. He was a deacon of the church, held several town offices, was a Deputy to the General Court of the Plymouth Colony in 1689 and 1692, and was the town's first representative after the Plymouth Colony was united with the Massachusetts Colony in 1692.[3]
Deacon Samuel Peck died in Rehoboth, Massachusetts, on 30 April 1708. [4]
