Biography

Nathaniel was a son of Joseph Peck. He was born in Hingham, Massachusetts, where he was baptized on 31 October 1641.[1][2] The family removed to Rehoboth, Massachusetts, in 1645.[3]

Nathaniel resided in Rehoboth, in the area that later became Barrington, Rhode Island, on land he received from his father. He died in Rehoboth in 1676.[4]

His wife was named Deliverance; she died in 1675.[5] Court records of the estate show that they were the parents of two sons and a daughter. Their sons Nathaniel and Elisha were born at Swansey, Massachusetts, in 1670 and 1675, respectively; the daughter's birth is not in the records.[6]

His inventory was taken on 14 September 1676 in Swansey and exhibited at Plymouth on 2 November 1676 on the oath of Jonathan Bosworth Sen. and Samuel Peck.[7]

Peck-1562 and Peck-109 appear to represent the same person because: Same person. The only discrepancy is death date, but the 1676 death date should be preferred. The only "source" for 1718 is Edmund West, who collected his data from diverse untraceable locations. The 1676 date is supported by Lincoln's History of Hingham, which isn't ideal but is at least more credible than one of West's slips of paper.
