Sir Alexander Pethein, The Laird of Auchinlongford, was born to James Pethein and (UKN) in Dorn, Ayr, Scotland.
He married Margaret Hamilton b. abt. 1565 in Scotland. This union was blessed with six known children, James, Alexander, Hugh, (UKN) b. 1592, (UKN) b. 1594 and Ester Pethein.

What evidence is there that Esther Peden, wife of Brice Blair, Covenanter, was of noble rank, or that she was a daughter of Sir Alexander Pethein and Margaret Hamilton? This profile cites no evidence for this alleged parentage. Given the fact that Esther's husband Brice Blair was misidentified by Ila May Fisher Maughan as Sir Bryce Blair of that Ilk, the identification of Brice's wife Esther Peden as of noble birth is also suspect.
