Mads Pedersen is recorded as of Brevig in the marriage protocols, and all baptisms. It is possible that he moved to Korsvig some time before the marriage to Inger in 1690, but the probate does not seem to match this connection. Mads is recorded as the landholder at Breviigen in the census of 1664-66, with an age of 61. He is recorded with a foster son, Lyland (find) age 7. There are two other landholders recorded at the same farm, Tore Oellsøn (31), with two sons; Ola (2½) and Arent (1), and Malene Oellsdatter (41).
Mads Pedersen i Brevig married Marit Estensdatter on Dom 26. p. Trin 1665.[1] Children:
Mads Pedersen of Korsvig married the widow, Inger Olsdatter, on 17 Mar 1691. (eng. 22 Nov 1690).[8] Mads Pedersen Kaarswig is listed in the census of 1701 as age 40, living with a stepson, Hans Klausen (23), a son of Inger's first marriage. According to Slektsbok for Sørfold, Mads Pedersen (abt. 1653-1723) was from Lakså, Nordfold.
The probate after Mads Pedersen Kaarswigen is recorded on 3 July 1724. "... for hans efterladte quinde Inger Olsdatter og arfvinger Jens ?? Torchielseng og Jonn ??? børn Jacob Jonnsen Flechoos, Anders Joensen Hestvig, Berrit Jonnsdatter
A Mads Pedersen Brevig died and was buried on 26 Oct 1682 age 93.[9] Can this be another Mads, e.g. his grandfather? The census of 1664-66 records Matz Pedersøn of Brewiigen (age 61)[10], who might be the same Mads, but the ages are somewhat off.
