Biography

In an interview August 11, 2016 Dan [Peterson-4473|Peterson] recalled that Carl arrived in the US having survived a storm at sea. All his possession were lost in the storm and he arrived penniless with nothing but the clothing he wore. Dan remember that C.F. and his family sold their farm and moved into Brainerd some time tithe 1930's. Dan recalled standing at the side of the road waving to his cousins as the left the farm moving into town.

Sources

My father recollected that Carl Pedersen, usually called C.F. was an (great) uncle and half brother to either Pedersen-2448 or his wife. This bit of information was enough to begin identifying Peter Larsen and his two wives and families. Some of the sources cited below reflect the identification of the Larsen-2800 families as I discovered them, thus some of these sources are not central to Pedersen-3603 but reflect the discovery of the Larsen-2800 families.

  • "Denmark Census, 1880," database with images, FamilySearch (https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:QL6H-JYY3 : 8 September 2017), Karl Ferdinand Petersen, Vallensved, Øster Flakkebjerg, Sorø, Danmark; from "1880 Denmark Census," database and images, MyHeritage ( https://www.myheritage.com : 2017), film 10093; citing Rigsarkivet, København, Danmark (National Archives, Copenhagen, Denmark).

The following seem likely leads although I need some more clues: Peter Larsen is the father in this first lead, which is also the name of great-grandpa [Petersen|pedersen-2448]. The mother's name differs (Susanne Caroline Jensen). This would make him an uncle to grandpa [petersen|petersen-1300].

Here is a lead for the marriage of Carl's parents:

  • ["Denmark Marriages, 1635-1916," database, FamilySearch (https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:FKCV-YZW : accessed 3 December 2015), Peder Larsen and Susanne Caroline Jensen, 25 May 1861; citing Krummerup,Soro,Denmark, reference ; FHL microfilm 52,405.]

And here are possible siblings:

  • ["Denmark Baptisms, 1618-1923," database, FamilySearch (https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:XYXQ-PB4 : accessed 3 December 2015), Peder Larsen in entry for Christine Rasmine Pedersen, 25 May 1870; citing VALLENSVED, SORO, DENMARK; FHL microfilm 0052591 V. 4-5.]

and another:

Death ["Minnesota Death Index, 1908-2002," database, FamilySearch (https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:V4WB-TPP : accessed 3 December 2015), Carl F. Peterson, 14 Oct 1954; from "Minnesota Death Index, 1908-2002," database, Ancestry (http://www.ancestry.com : 2001); citing Crow Wing, Minnesota, record 1256590, certificate number 003130, Minnesota Department of Health, Minneapolis.]

  • August 14, 2016, I now consider most all of the above established facts and I need to go back and revise my findings to reflect these established relationships. It may be a while before I do so. [petersen-1298|Dwight Petersen]

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Carl by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Carl:
