Free Space pages are wiki pages for supplementing your family history. They can be used to profile anything of significance such as a special pet, a meaningful event, a school you attended, a family heirloom .... They're "anything pages".
Thanks for your question. WikiTree is a site that welcomes genealogists (and non-genealogists) at all levels to come and participate so you will find some profiles exceptionally well sourced and others barely sourced at all. The beauty of WikiTree is we are all about collaboration and the key to that is communication. My suggestion would be to always contact the profile managers of profiles you have questions about, want to connect to or are interested in. You can work together with them to help insure the profiles are properly sourced and dated. They'll probably be happy to have more information! :)
Our vision is to build a collaborative tree with one profile per person. The farther back you go, it's likely you will find duplicate profiles to link into, so it's a good idea to do a search before you create a new profile.
Do you have Royal Ancestors? If so, they are already here! Please contact the EuroAristo Project to discuss connecting your family line to their already existing profiles.
WikiTree strives to be a fun, collaborative, productive site. It's also different than what many people are used to. Please take advantage of the Help Menu in the upper right hand corner, our G2G Forum and of course, our Mentors :)
Thank you for joining WikiTree. Our G2G Forum is searchable or you can post a question there.
The Help Index is also an important place to find how to do most tasks.
If I can be of help in any way, please let me know!
Welcome aboard!
Mary
I would be overjoyed to be possessed of the ability to contribute. In my much more limited manner, I have sought to link as many individuals together as possible. However, rampant are the inconsistencies and mistakes; many of which I too must admit guilt early on. While the number of links is important, accuracy and proof exceed all. I have been at this for 14 years now, and still wish to be educated in the correct manner by which to proceed in linking together all individuals. I am in agreement with each and every one of your stipulated rules. Furthermore, while I certainly understand the desire of some researchers to be compensated for their time, I to desire free access to all records. Thank you for your consideration.
I noticed you uploaded a GEDCOM. Here's a link to a great step-by-step of our GEDCOM import process
including screenshots that you might find helpful. You might also want to check out our GEDCOMS.
Please keep in mind that our primary vision is to build a collaborative tree with just one profile per person,
so please make sure to look for duplicates on WikiTree before adding a profile.
For help on GEDCOM cleanup, please check this link for additional help.

2. Our help pages, top right, have all sorts of useful information.
If you would like to contribute, click the volunteer button and leave a comment here on your profile to let our greeters know. You should include a little bit about how you plan to contribute to the tree.

Just checking in with a few quick tips:

Not sure what to include in a profile? Check out our Biography Ideas and and Standards help pages.
Lastly, sometimes you'll run into unresponsive profile managers. We have a process for resolving those unfortunate situations.
If you have any questions, please ask!
