Biography

Estimated date about 1948 since she is not seen in 1940 Census with Ira or 'Vicey' (possible mother). Her daughter was born abt 1973.

Frances Penland was adopted by her aunt and uncle, Ira Arburthnot Meritt and Gertrude Singletary, because her mother had an aneurism and became paralysed during childbirth.

She married (?) Bragg.

Frances lived in Ocala, Florida and had a daughter born c.1973/75.

Research Notes

Francis is mentioned in the obituary for Ira Arburthnot in 1992 that is on his Find A Grave: Memorial #48163904 as one of his daughters, Francis Penland Bragg of Ocala, Florida. Her mother may have been Vicey Penland Minix of Waycross, Georgia, who is also mentioned in Ira's obituary, as being Ira's sister.

Possible source for Francis P Bragg, b Oct 20 1948, residence Apr 1 1985 Brunswick, Georgia. [1]
