Jesse was the son of Joshua & Nancy Jane Sparks Pennington. His paternal grandparents were: Micajah & Cynthia Corey Pennington and his maternal grandparents were: James & Mary Sparks. His siblings were: Margaret, Levi, James , Rachel, Sally, Hiram, Claiborn, David, Fred & William Pennington. On 1/6/1858 Jesse married Mary Polly Smith and they had 4 children: David, Nancy, William Henry & James C. Pennington. [1]
