Biography

Originally served with Confederate Navy. Captured in Mississippi River and sent to Fr. Douglas, Chicago, where he enlisted in Union Navy, May 20, 1864, serving on the Vermont and discharged on June 2, l865. Find A Grave: Memorial #15856230

AL; Martha J., age 16 b. in AL; Linda E. age 15 b. AL; Joseph age 13 b. AL; Elijah age 10 b. AL; Benjamin age 8 b. MS; Avelin age 5 b. in MS; Jasper age 2 b. in AL; and Newton, age 2 b. in AL.

Note: I'm not sure if Jasper and Newton were twins or were born so close they were the same age for awhile. Also, why were Benjamin and Avelin born in MS and none of the other children were. Did they move there briefly and then come back or do they belong to one of the other Pennington..
