Charles was born in 1862 In Lee County, Virginia. His parents were Greenberry Pennington and Letitia Robbins.[1][2]

In the 1880 census Charles (age 17), Farmer, was the single son of Lutitia Pennington in Crab Orchard, Lee, Virginia, United States.[4]
He married Nancy Armenta Clark 30 Dec 1882 in Lee, Virginia.[5]
In the 1900 census Charles (age 38), Farmer, was the married head of household in Salem, Lee, Virginia.[6]
In the 1910 census Charley (age 48), Farmer, was the married head of household in Yokum Station, Lee, Virginia, United States.[7]
