Andrew was the son of John and Mary (Hardstrock) Pennington, and the brother of Orleana and Levi. He was born in Kentucky in 1877, probably in Jackson County. Andrew married Dovie King in 1898. They moved around Kentucky doing farm work, starting their marriage in Breathitt County, then moving to Jackson County, Owsley County, Lee County, and Estill County. Their children were Clara Bell, Ralph, Roscoe, Goldie, Rexford, Robert, Roy, Marie, Raymond, and Mary. In the 1930's, Andrew and Dovie moved to Washington County, Indiana, where he continued to do farm work. In 1940, their son, Ralph, and his two children, Ralph, Jr. and Flossie, were living with them.
Andrew died in 1953 and was buried in Salem, Indiana.
