"Mary(Pepper) (Smith) O'Bannon, wife of Andrew was married, first to Joseph Smith, Jr., son of Captain Joseph Smith (1718-1793) and wife, Katherine Anderson of "Mt. Eccentric". "Mt Eccentric" was an early Smith home on a slope of the Pignut Mt., near the O'Bannon family lands. Joseph and Mary (Pepper) Smith had three children, as mentioned above, viz: 1) Ruth, b: 10 March 1772, m: 4 April____John Logan in Mason Co., Ky.; 2) Wilhelmina (Milly), b: ca: 1773, m: 23 October 1797, Joseph Burdett; 3) Abner Smith, b: ca: 1775; m: (1st)24 Jan. 1802, Nancy Jennings in Shenandoah County, Va.; the records show that he was married a second time.....
.....Andrew O'Bannon married on 10 October 1777, Mary (Pepper) Smith, widow of Joseph Smith, Jr. and daughter of Samuel and Elizabeth (Holton) Pepper.....
... It seems that Andrew and Mary Pepper O'Bannon also moved to Garrard County at the same time (1797). Mary died sometime after 25 Dec. 1837 when she made her will in Garrard County."[1]
