Family Peirce, North American colonists, connection with English family Percy or Pearce (Pers, Pierce, Peirce). Both have evidence tracing their ancestry as twentieth generation from Galfred. This Peter Percy is claimed as the 15th generation.[4]

Note the sources relate to Peter Peirce of Bedale. This man did not have either the ancestors or the descendants indicated by this profile. Note also that the standard-bearer hero story, though evidently current among Peirce's real descendants by the 1630s, is not true (or at least, it happened to somebody else, though not "Peter Percy").

According to "The Pearce Genealogy: Being the Record of the Posterity of Richard Pearce, an Early Inhabitant of Portsmouth, in Rhode Island, Who Came From England, and Whose Genealogy Is Traced Back to 972" by Frederick Clifton Pierce, Peter Percy was born in 1447 and was the son of Ralph Percy, brother (and son) of Earls of Northumberland. The genealogy does also state that he fought in the Battle of Bosworth, though it says nothing about him losing a leg. See link to source below.
