Jonathan's date and place of birth are uncertain; responses on Census returns from 1820 thru 1850 point to birth between 1771 and 1790, while the 1860 Census Mortality Schedule points to a Virginia birth in 1766 and unsourced online "trees" claim England in 1774. With such a wide date range the possibility of conflated identity cannot be entirely ruled out. But it seems clear that the Jonathan Perdue who resided in Guernsey county, Ohio from 1820 through 1850 is the Jonathan Perdue who died in 1859.
Numerous online "trees" claim that Jonathan is the son of Joseph Perdue (or Pardue/Perdieu), b. maybe Virginia say 1732. I have found no documentation supporting this relationship.
An extract of Jonathan's will (see attached) enables us to identify heirs as follows:
wife Rebecca 1/3 of estate
son William $300
daughter Catherine Estella $300
son James $300
daughter Rachel Carpenter $100
daughter Sarah Davidson $300 [died 1860]
daughter Mary Spenser $300
son of deceased daughter Elizabeth COGAN [unclear] Izaak Cogan
grandson and son of Rachel Carpenter -- Neal Perdue
