Biography

Abigail Perkins, the daughter of Abraham Perkins and Mary Wyeth, was born 12 Apr 1655[1] in Hampton, New Hampshire Colony.[2]

On November 10, 1675, Abigail married Deacon John Folsom, Jr. (bap. 3 Oct 1641, d. c 1715), son of John Folsom and Mary (Gilman) Folsom, Sr., in Hingham, Plymouth, Massachusetts Bay Colony. They had the following children:[2]

  • Abigail, b. 23 Dec 1676, m. Edward Gilman;
  • Abraham, b. c 1678, m1, Anna Chase of Newbury 27 Oct 1703; (m2. Elizabeth ____ - needs source);
  • John III, (b. c 1680, m. Mary Sewall - needs source);
  • Sarah, m. Nathaniel Stevens abt 1703 (as his second wife - needs source);
  • Mary, b. 27 Sep 1684, d. 14 Feb 1710/1, m. Daniel Morrison 27 May 1707;
  • Dea. Jonathan, m. Anna Ladd;
  • Jeremiah, d. c 1757, m. 26 Jan 1708/9 Mary Basford [d. 8 Oct 1744];
  • Lydia, m. Robert Stockman [b. 8 Aug 1683, d. c 1741], she survived him; (he was of Kingston, NH - needs source);
  • Mercy, married Lt. James Dudley [b. 11 Jun 1690], (lived in Brentwood, NH - needs source).

Abigail and John "Foulsham" are buried in the Congregational Church Burial Ground, Exeter, Rockingham County, New Hampshire.[3]

Research Notes

  • On John Folsom's Find A Grave profile, there is a photograph of his headstone, which clearly shows the spelling of his surname is FOULSAM.[3]
  • At 12/2/18, unsourced info re: their children is in parentheses, other info is from Mortensen, as cited.
  • Contacted Find A Grave 12/2/18 - asked them to change (1) Abigail's dod from 1716 to unknown (DONE at 12/3/18), (2) death place from Hampton NH to Exeter NH (DONE at 12/3/18), and (3) marriage place from Hamden MA to Hampton NH (not done - 2nd request on 12/3/18). tt
