Opal Lorene Benson, 97, of Cody died peacefully March 30, 2011, at West Park Long Term Care Center.
Opal was born in Franklin, Neb., on Oct. 2, 1913. The family moved to Wyoming, and Opal was raised and graduated from high school in Greybull. It was there she met the love of her life, Robert H. Benson.
Together they operated businesses in Lovell for many years. During retirement they moved to Cody and worked at the Buffalo Bill Historical Center for many years.
She lived the last two years of her life at the Long Term Care Center, where the staff treated her with care and respect. She loved them all. The family thanks everyone there for the excellent care she received.
Opal was active in the Methodist Church and Eastern Star.
She is survived by sons Terry (Mary) Benson of Laramie, Robert J. (Marla) Benson of Casper and Dennis (Shirley) Benson of Cody, and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Robert "Shorty" Benson and her baby son Donald.
Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. April 11 in Ballard Funeral Home with Rev. Mary Barbee officiating. Graveside services will follow at 2 p.m. in Greybull Cemetery.
