Hampton Perkins was born in Elwood, Indiana to John Perkins and wife Elizabeth Lee. He was first enumerated at age 9 in his father's 1870 Van Buren County, Michigan household.[1]
Hampton was married 18th October 1890 in Huntington, Indiana to Miss Matilda Nave, daughter of Solomon Nave. She used many first names throughout her live, excepting her apparent given name Matilda.[2] She appears to have preferred Della Malinda. The couple was enumerated in Madison County, Indiana with their three children in 1900.[3][4][5] They divorced after 1904, certainly prior to 1910, when Hampton was enumerated in the Van Buren, Michigan household of his widowed sister Esther Hall, and Della was enumerated as a widow with their youngest son James Eldie Perkins in Indianapolis, Indiana.[6][7]
Hampton was again married in 1935 to Ethel Kemp. He passed away in Madison County, Indiana in 1938.[8][9][10]
